The Phoenix Comic for Kids – Win a 6-month Subscription | Review & Giveaway

We’ve had a subscription to The Phoenix magazine for quite a while now and we love it. I honestly thought that it would be one of those things that Ava picks up once and then never looks at again but that is not the case at all.

She loves getting her weekly delivery and I often find her sitting there quietly absorbed by it and I love that it keeps her attention.

The Phoenix is a weekly comic for kids aged between about 7 and 14. It has really varied and entertaining content, such as adventure stories, funny comics, non-fiction comics covering history, science and more, puzzles, as well as art and storytelling tips that inspire kids to spend more time reading, drawing and writing! In July it celebrated its 500th issue and to celebrate that they have shared issue 500 for free on their website.

Ava is an avid reader anyway but she still has to be encouraged away from tech regularly, so I love anything that is completely tech-free and encourages her to chill out and engage her brain for a little while – and especially when she picks it up herself to read regularly!

She has a favourite section that she immediately looks for, and she really enjoys the drawing sections as well – one of her favourite things to do at the moment.

Ava gets the magazine delivered to ‘The Fantastic Ava’ which is fun for her (and what kid doesn’t love getting post addressed to them!) – each child gets theirs delivered to their own superhero name!

The Phoenix is great for Ava, at aged 9 (not too far off 10 – sob!) to enjoy independently and it’s great to take away with us on holiday as well as taking in the car to keep her entertained.

A subscription to The Phoenix makes a really great gift for kids as they get to keep enjoying it over the length of the subscription – it’s the gift that keeps on giving! It costs £2 for each issue, making it way cheaper than most kids magazines in supermarkets and you can also choose from either a six-month subscription or a year making it even cheaper.
