My daughter is really into clothes at the moment, and has very strong opinions about what she will and won’t wear every time we go out somewhere. If she could wear a pretty party dress everywhere she went then she would, and she often comes downstairs in the morning dressed in a beautiful dress and then has a huge mardy when I tell her that no she can’t wear that to lounge around the house in today.
She really loves having a say in the clothes we buy for her, so she was very excited to help me to choose one of the very beautiful girls designer dresses from the new Spring/Summer 2019 range from David Charles for us to review.
David Charles Childrenswear is a British brand that was founded in 1970, by a husband and wife team who wanted to create stunning luxury girls dresses that translated women’s high fashion trends into irresistible designs for girls, that were equally loved by children and their parents.
Today, David Charles has grown to become the most respected British names in children’s luxury dresses and girl’s party dresses. They make a range of absolutely beautiful special occasion dresses for girls through from age 2 up to 16. Their designer dresses and accessories are stocked in some of the finest stores in the world, including Harrods in London and Saks 5th Avenue in New York, and have been worn by Princesses Eugenie and Beatrice, as well as many celebrities!
There are so many beautiful dresses in the new collection, including some absolutely gorgeous bridesmaid dresses that would also be perfect for a Christening. After much deliberation, Ava and I chose the Royal Blue Floral Party Gown as we thought she could get plenty of wear out of it, and it is such a beautiful dress, even more so in real life.
The dress is exclusive to David Charles, and is a stunning blue colour with a satin finish. The fit and flare shape produced by the layers of chiffon underneath make it so flattering and perfect for spinning about in, as my daughter loves to do! It is perfect for the upcoming seasons, with the bright florals all over it.
The top part of the dress really adds to the prettiness, with the embroidery and the ruffled edges on the neckline and sleeves. The back of the dress is stunning too, with a concealed zip and open section below a hook and eye fastening.
It’s such a beautiful dress and I am rather jealous of it; I adore the shape of it in particular. It would be the perfect dress for a wedding or party and Ava can’t wait to wear it again. She did complain about it being a bit itchy towards the top at first, but after giving it a cool handwash it now seems to be fine.
There’s no hiding from it: these dresses are most certainly a luxury item for a very special occasion. But you really do get what you pay for – the quality and attention to detail are amazing, and they really are dresses that will be cherished and passed to younger sisters or other girls in the family later on.
David Charles dresses come beautifully packaged in tissue paper, with a pretty coathanger, dress bag, and even a notebook and pen! So it really feels like something special to look after and enjoy. I love receiving something that comes so nicely wrapped; it really adds to the experience, especially when you have spent more money.
David Charles have so many really beautiful bridesmaid dresses and formal dresses for when you are looking for something that bit more special. We love our dress – it really comes into its own once on, and the dress kicks out at the bottom and looks so beautiful on Ava.

It is very difficult to choose from so many beautiful dresses but my favourite has to be the Ivory and Pink Peony Tea dress – it is so pretty.
I love all the dresses, I like the ivory flower dress. I really like the one your daughter is wearing especially because it’s a bit darker, I’m always on edge when my daughter has a light coloured party dress on for spillage reasons.

The royal blue floral party gown as worn by your daughter is my daughter’s favourite choice too. She would love to wear it to her rugby presentation day, as its such a contrast to her muddy kit! She is 8, and lots of clothes are very grown up and I adore that she loves stylish girly dresses despite being super sporty.
