Keeping Your Little One Warm & Snuggly, With the Cocoon Baby Blanket | A Review & Giveaway (Ended)

6th January 2020

Life with a baby can be bloody difficult, so anything which makes things a little bit easier for us is always appealing as a mother. The Cocoon Baby Blanket from Cocoon Babies is a blanket for babies, to use in car seats and in prams, keeping your baby snuggly and warm without putting them in a coat which can be very dangerous when in a car seat in the car.

It’s really important that babies and children don’t wear winter coats in their car seats. In order for them to work properly and keep them safe, the straps need to remain tight against the child’s chest. In a crash, their clothes will compress, and thicker winter coats or snowsuits could compress enough that the child could be ejected from the car seat.

The Cocoon Baby Blanket allows you to transfer them from the house to the car and back again, keeping them lovely and warm and without disturbing them if they are asleep. It has holes for the car seat harness to go through so that it can be left on the car seat throughout the cold months, and then it wraps over your baby and fastens with 4 poppers, keeping it in place.

I’ve used ours with my niece — even though she is over the suggested top age of 6 months old as she is pretty small — and she looked so snuggly in it and was really happy and content. It was a slight faff to undo the car seat straps and put them back after threading them through the cocoon, so you wouldn’t want to take it on and off the car seat or pushchair all the time, but you shouldn’t really need to do that until after the cold months are over.

It’s made of really soft and cosy material on the inside and I think it’s such a useful product to keep your baby safe and warm in their car seat. It can’t fall off onto the wet ground like a blanket can, and because it wraps right around them it is a lot warmer. We have the one that has a bright pink soft fleece lining that is gentle on baby’s sensitive skin, and it also comes in blue and red. They all have a wool exterior and very importantly for something that you use with babies, are machine washable.

The Cocoon Baby Blanket is suitable to use from birth and is suitable for use in car seats as well as prams and fits most 3 and 5 point harnesses and most travel systems.

I think they are great for winter to keep babies snug as a bug — it’s bad enough for us when you open the door and are hit by that icy blast, but it can’t be nice for babies — so I think this is a great idea. As it has the 4 poppers you can easily undo it once they are in the car if it is warmer or once you are inside somewhere so that they don’t get too hot.

The Cocoon Baby Blanket is available from CocoonBabies.co.uk RRP £29.99.
