Recruiting Talent Through Social Media

In the old days, companies used to have to spend money to take out an ad in the paper to recruit new employees.  As time evolved, companies had to continue to spend money to advertise on Internet job websites.

But, today, there are free opportunities through the most used form of the Internet–social media!  Social media is viewed on a constant basis by people and is the perfect opportunity to highlight your brand and draw in potential employees.  You can even develop a blog similar to the German recruitment blog to bring attention to your company. But, there are plenty of more reasons why you should be reaching out to future employees through social media.

Make Your LinkedIn Attractive

You will want to have your LinkedIn company page attractive to all who search it out.  Should be able to tell the story of your company (not too long, though) and make it stand out as an ideal place to be employed.  Your description, as well as several sentences, are searchable on Google, which is where you hope to draw some attention. People should leave your page feeling as though it is the perfect fit for them.

Many people are trying to start their own businesses or work from home.  Making your page come to life might sway very talented people from starting up a business and choosing yours instead.

Employee Postings

Encourage your employees to post on Social Media and tag the company in any relevant posts.  It is important to discuss a Social Media policy with your staff ahead of time, but they are your best source for referrals.  They should be open and honest about the company and highlight many of the exciting features that come along with working at the company.  Potential employees will see that the company is such an enjoyable place to work that someone would even take the time to bring it to Social Media.

Videos

Viral videos, for the right reasons, are a perfect way to draw in potential employees.  Discuss with your staff a way to develop a fun and engaging video that can show off the perks of working at your company.  Make it as real and authentic as you can to really highlight the real life of your company. Allowing someone to see it in real time can allow them to visualize if their personality fits with what the company is trying to promote.

Instagram Before Facebook

Today, Instagram draws 10x the amount of people than Facebook and over 100x more people than Twitter.  Instagram can be used to build your company brand as well as show off your employees behind the brand. Instagram also provides the opportunity to create short videos to show off various comings and goings of the company.  With the many opportunities for “likes” and “shares”, you can easily draw in attention, for free, with Instagram.

Ultimately, whether we like it or not, Social Media is here to stay.  So, it makes perfect sense to utilize it to its fullest extent and show off the many amazing things that your business is doing.  And, while you’re doing that, you’ll be creating a buzz and attraction to work at such an amazing place of business.

This is a collaborative post.
