Growing Plants

If you’re lucky enough to have a garden, then getting into the hobby of growing various plants is fun and can be easy, too. You could grow flowers purely to look pretty, or you could grow fruits, vegetables or herbs to use in your own kitchen. There are plenty of easier types of plants to grow, so even if you’re not green-fingered, you can start somewhere and build your way up. Be sure to find out what growing zone the place that you live in is because that will dictate what will grow (and what won’t!).

You could go with pots and baskets, or add a greenhouse or dig some planters and add hydroponics. It can be as simple or complex as you like,  but it’s a great way to keep fit, find a fun hobby and make the most of your garden.

Adding a Play Area for Kids

If you have kids, grandkids, or young family members who come to your house to visit, then creating a dedicated play area for them is a must! Think swings, slides, and maybe even a sandpit. It’s a simple way to keep them entertained and active outdoors while giving you a moment of peace to relax and enjoy the sunshine. Plus, it’s a great way to encourage them to spend more time out of doors and away from screens.

Outdoor Dining

There’s something special about dining al fresco, so when the weather warms up, make sure your garden is set up and ready to go! Setting up a patio area with a table, some chairs, and a parasol to shade you from the sun is a must. If you have guests that like to come over, buy some extra foldable chairs that you can keep in the shed and add to the table when you need them. Some twinkly fairy lights and cute outdoor plates, bowls and cups will all make the space feel even more inviting.

Adding an Extension or Structure

If you have a particularly large garden and aren’t sure what to do with it, consider adding an extension to your home or a structure to your garden, like a garden room or workshop. If you or your partner like to be hands-on, you could buy things like welding supplies, a lathe, brewing equipment or whatever else you’re into and have the perfect home setup for a hobby or home business. If you go with a garden room, this can be perfect for relaxing or making a great office or guest suite since they’re fully insulated and equipped with electrics.

Relaxing Area

The garden can be one of the best places to relax when it’s warm, so why not add a soothing water feature and a comfy bench or egg swing chair? The sound of trickling water can have a calming effect, creating a peaceful atmosphere that’s perfect for unwinding after a long day. A brilliant spot to sit and enjoy a coffee in the morning or a glass of wine in the evening.
