It’s hard to be satisfied with a job in the modern world. We all have so many options, but it’s not as simple as that. Every person is different, at the end of the day. Even if you find a career that suits you in terms of your academic ability, it might not suit you in terms of your personal preferences. You might be a very skilled communicator, but a job in HR bores you to no end. Or you might be a very analytical person, but a job in accounting offers you no challenge. In this article, we’ll discuss some personality types and the types of careers that might be well-suited to them.
Caring people.
Hopefully, everybody’s caring to some extent. However, it’s no great secret that some people are more empathetic than others. If you’re somebody who loves to help others and make a real difference, then you might want to consider a career in healthcare. Obviously, a demanding career such as this requires a highly technical level of knowledge, so it’s not as simple as clicking your fingers and getting a job as a nurse. Doctors obviously spend years and years training to gain the medical knowledge necessary to qualify for their roles, but all types of medical careers require technical training to some extent. If you’re willing to put in the time to get educated, however, then this could be a very rewarding career for you and the people you assist on a daily basis.
Social people.
For some people, a career is unsatisfying because it doesn’t give them the opportunity to spread their wings. It doesn’t give them the opportunity to connect with others. If your current job involves working alone in an office cubicle, then it might be time to look for a career which allows you to be social. Perhaps you could consider a career in sales. Selling goods or services to people, whether you do it over the phone or in a retail store, is the perfect way to connect with others on a daily basis. Being able to sell products and services depends on the ability of a salesperson to interact with someone authentically. If this is your talent, then you should turn it into your career.
Of course, some people want to socialise with others but not find themselves in dull office environments or overwhelming retail environments. You might want to consider a career as a librarian; this would allow you to interact with many people on a daily basis but also work in a calm and relaxing place. You might want to check out USC online for library science degrees. Developing advanced leadership and management skills in this area could still prove hugely useful in the modern age. Libraries are still incredibly important in the world of research, so this could lead to many career opportunities for you.
Creative people.
Maybe the suggestions haven’t appealed to you so far because you’re a creative person. Maybe you’re looking for a career that gives you some form of artistic freedom. Don’t believe that you have to give up your creativity when you enter the working world; if anything, creativity is essential in the working world. So, if you feel that your talents aren’t being utilised in your current job, then it might be time to start looking into better career options. There are creative jobs out there. A talented writer can create marketing copy; a talented artist can become a graphic designer; a talented musician can play paid gigs at events such as weddings. There’s no need to limit yourself.
