Let’s have a look at some of these below:

They’re Permanent

It might seem obvious, but seriously, tattoos are extremely permanent and therefore you need to really think about what they mean to you before you commit. Of course, you can have laser treatment to have them removed but this can be painful, tedious and expensive. If you’re unsure that you deal with having something on you permanently think about using temporary tattoos first.

Think About Its Location

Before you get your tattoo, you will need to decide what you want and also where you want it. This is just as important as the design. Some areas on the body can be more painful than others and some you may get more judgemental looks than from others. You might also want to consider where you work, some places still have restriction about tattoos being on the show, although, some workplaces are now becoming much more welcoming to this creative show of personalities in their employees. If you’re not sure about where you want it, visit your tattoo artist and ask for them to put the stencil in the area your considering to see if you like it.

Understand That It Can Hurt

Of course, everyone pain tolerance is different, but it’s important that you understand that a tattoo can really hurt. Some can’t bear the pain and others take precautions to help such as using tattoo numbing cream. If you opt for areas that don’t have much skin, then it’s likely to hurt more than the softer more plush areas of your body. You might want to take this into consideration when choosing your location.

Make Sure You Do Research

It’s imperative that you do your research. It’s not advisable to just turn up to a tattoo shop with looking it up first. You’ll need to trust the tattoo artist that you choose to use as they are responsible for marking your body permanently. Research the tattoo shops that you are thinking about using. Read the reviews properly and even ask family and friends for references if they’ve had tattoos themselves. It’s advisable to go to the tattoo shop in person rather than just turning up, it gives you a chance to get to them a little bit and also check out the facilities. Always make an appointment.

These are four important areas that you should consider before getting a tattoo. Have you ever had a tattoo? Or are you thinking about getting one? Please share your stories in the comments below.
