Although you may not feel it’s right to compare, it’s still lovely to remember your lost pet in a special way, let’s have a look at some of the things you can do below:

Hold a Memorial Service

A memorial service is a great opportunity to bring together all of the people who meant the most to your pet, and you. You can talk about the ways they made you special and some of your favourite stories. Ask some of your close family and friends to all share one memory of your pet, talk about all your favourite things about them. Just taking an hour or so together to honour your pet can help to bring a huge amount of comfort. You can choose whether you would like to hold the service in your garden and bury your pet or if you would like to use something such as dog cremation urns and keep them in your home.

Donate to an Animal Organisation

Your pet brought you a lot of joy, so you could think about making donations in their memory so that other animals can do the same for someone else. You may want to make a donation to the shelter you adopted them from, or to a special cause, such as an animal cancer foundation if that’s the reason your pet passed away. If you aren’t thinking about getting another pet in the future, the money that you use to spend on them can do a lot of good for many other pets especially if they are in a shelter, need food, toys, or medical treatment.

Create A Space In Your Garden

Gardens are the symbol of life and continuous growth. Why not plant some flowers, a tree or create a special little part of the garden in their memory. You could purchase a special garden stone with their name on it to add to a nice part of your garden. Some people use their pet’s old water or food bowl as a planter in the garden, which is a nice touch. You will then always be reminded of the special times you shared with your pet whenever you are in your garden, it’s such a great way to further a life that has ended.

There is certainly no right or wrong way to mourn or remember a lost pet. Let yourself grieve, and remember to take steps to celebrate and remember them and the times you spent together. Ty, if you can, to take solace in knowing that they may be irreplaceable yet they will always be there in your memory.
