My Goals for May
“You are as welcome as the flowers in May.”
I am actually pretty flabbergasted that it is May already, and not only that it is the 8th — what the actual….?
I am sat here typing and it is currently pouring with rain and I am shivering in my socks. I’m not going to lie – I just turned the heating on. Happy May! I bought some kids sun cream in Boots yesterday whilst it was on offer, and the woman who served me asked if I was off on holiday – God I wish I was. I could really do with a holiday right now. Anyway, I told her no, that I was just hoping to encourage the sun to come back out, but I think I actually made it worse, because now we’ve gone back to winter weather and I actually wished I was wearing gloves whilst grasping my umbrella with my ice cold hand on the school run this morning.
So yes, it’s the beautiful Spring month of May, so I thought I would share my goals for the month.
My Goals for May:
Keep up with my fitness routine and healthy eating
I have finally, finally got back into some sort of fitness routine again and I’m so happy about it. I actually want to make sure I fit in exercise most days now because I am feeling better for it. My body is becoming more toned again and my clothes are starting to fit me better. I am using Fitness Blender videos at home, which I love, although I do want to start going to the gym again to get me out of the house and to use the pool and sauna. I even worked out at 7am the other morning before school after I woke up at 5.45am and couldn’t get back to sleep, which I have never done before in my life! It did kill me though so I might not do it again.
Looking back at last years May Goals I was at this same point then too but didn’t keep it up, which doesn’t bode well. But this time feels different because I am also eating much more healthily too. I am certainly not on a diet, but I am enjoying salads for lunch and incorporating more healthy fats (particularly tinned mackerel, avocadoes and olive oil) and having fewer carbs. But I am not restricting myself, and I am enjoying my food as usual. Luckily for me, I haven’t even really had to try – it’s just what I’ve been wanting, which makes it so much easier.
Drink less wine
I’m very aware that I’m drinking too much at the moment, and apart from the issue of the cost, I know it is not good for me. I haven’t been in a very good place mentally for a while now, and so wine helps me switch off and unwind a bit come the evening, plus I do really enjoy it.
But a bottle goes down far too easily now and I know I need to cut down and give my body far more breaks from it than it is getting right now.
Spend one day each week on house stuff
I really want to dedicate one day a week to doing *fun* house stuff so that I can finally get all the crap cleared out and decorate a room at a time. I’ve been doing quite well with clearing things out recently, but it feels like a never-ending cycle and there’s still so much more to do.
Pretty much everywhere needs redecorating, so I want to start to tackle that too. I bought new paint for the lounge aaages ago but because some parts need polyfilla-ring I keep putting it off.
So I want to try and spend a full day each week on general housework, clearing the clutter and redecorating, so that it doesn’t always become a weekend job that stops us from going out and having fun.
What have you got planned this month? Do you have any goals for May or anything in particular that you want to do?
