Introducing Snapstar Dolls at Smyths Toys | AD

23rd April 2019

This week Ava was very excited to receive the new Snapstar dolls. We were sent a lovely package to open, with three of the dolls, and extra fashion packs for them too.

The six Snapstar dolls, exclusive to Smyths, each have their own look and personality, that you can customise and change up with extra fashion accessories, as well as an app and green screen to give your dolls different looks and backgrounds.

Ava was so excited to unwrap the box and get the dolls out and see what they could do. All of the dolls have 15 points of articulation so that they can sit down or strike a pose, as well as changeable hairstyles and outfits. You can literally take the hair off each doll so that you can switch them round or even give them a very cool short hair look, so you can really make them your own and individual to you. They even have pierced ears so that you can change their earrings too!

Ava was desperate to get the dolls out of their boxes and start swapping their outfits around. She loves that some of the dolls come with a little phone – she obviously sees me with mine a lot and she has a pretend one of her own, so she really likes that her dolls have one too, as well as a little handbag each.

We have three of the dolls: Lola, Yuki, and Dawn and I think they are lovely dolls – Ava loves them too and they have gone everywhere with her since she got them. They’re a really nice size to play with and to carry around with you, and Ava spends a lot of time changing their outfits around and giving them different looks.

Enter the world of SNAPSTAR, an immersive world of fashion, beauty, music, photography and design where our trendsetting squad of six social influencers define what’s next and aspirational.

I wasn’t sure how keen I was on the whole premise of the ‘influencer’ for these dolls at first, but after reading more about them I really liked that these dolls stand for positive things like kindness and caring about the environment. They each have a different style and are their own person which I think is important. Plus you obviously don’t have to make this a part of playing with them. They are really inspiring imaginative play for Ava and she’s so creative with them – she’s made them a bed with blankets and a space for their imaginary pet out of one of the boxes they came in and clipped their phones onto the sides!

You can download the #SNAPSTAR Studio app so that you can take a photo of your doll using the posing stand and green screen, and change things like the background, make-up, hair and accessories. Then you can share your pictures on social media if you want to. I prefer Ava to play with her dolls as a break from technology, but she loves things like this and it’s a fun addition to have on the iPad. A is very interested in make-up in a playful way, and choosing the clothes she wears at the moment so she loves dressing up her dolls and having fun with how they look too.

Check out the whole range of #SNAPSTAR dolls – you can pre-order now exclusively at Smyths and they will be in store from 20th May. Check your online or local store for details.

This is a paid partnership with Smyths Toys.
