Why New Build Homes are Great for Hosting Festive Gatherings

18th December 2023

If you’ve moved into a new home this year, chances are you’re looking forward to hosting a bunch of festive events in your brand-new abode. And if you’ve made the move to a new build, you’ll be happy to know that they make great places for entertaining.

Wondering why? Here are five reasons that make new build homes the festive venue of choice:

Open plan spaces

New build homes tend to be designed with modern living in mind and feature open-plan living and dining spaces, making them ideal for hosting get-togethers. Instead of guests being separated in different rooms or everyone gathering in the kitchen, communal, open-plan rooms offer more space and are great for creating that party atmosphere.

Energy efficiency

With a new build, there’s no need to worry about your guests being exposed to the elements. New homes are built to be more efficient, with 84% of new builds having an A or B energy efficiency rating, meaning warmer and cosier rooms for your guests.

Accessibility

All new build homes must comply with new accessibility regulations which are designed to be inclusive and benefit everyone. This includes downstairs toilets, wider doors to fit wheelchairs and light switches installed at certain heights. This means that all your guests can enjoy your festive celebrations without worrying about access issues.

Community feel

Many new build homes are built as part of a community, sometimes with purpose-built parks, playgrounds and shops for residents. This makes it easy to meet others and get to know your neighbours.

Why not invite them around to celebrate the new year or host a pre-Christmas gathering to really get to know your community? And the best bit? No one has to worry about getting a taxi home!

Modern kitchen designs

No party or get-together is complete without food and drink. And living in a new build means you’ve got access to modern kitchen facilities, enabling you to cook up a storm and serve in style. There’s also usually a wealth of storage space, perfect for keeping a selection of drinks and snacks without creating too much mess.

If you’ve recently bought a new build, you’ll also have the opportunity to put your own stamp on it. As they’re typically decorated in neutral styles, why not use the festive season to create your own cosy décor? If you’re not ready to get the paint brushes out just yet, you could always add some colourful soft furnishings such as cushions and throws to help your guests really feel at home.

Finally, if you have outside space, you could even invest in an outdoor heater and extend your party into the garden.
