Using Branded Merchandise to Promote Your Business

28th September 2020

Giving away promotional merchandise is a fantastic way to attract new customers to your business, as well as encourage existing customers to come back to you. Branded items are a successful form of marketing across a variety of different businesses, but they have to be used in the right way. What works for some, might not work for all, so have a think and be prepared for some experimentation.

Lots of business people choose to take branded pens and other stationery to pitch meetings so that even after they have left the premises, their name and logo remain at the forefront of the prospective client’s mind long after. For those who are active on social media, with plenty of engaged followers, a competition might be a good option, with plenty of branded products as a prize. Many people also take branded merchandise along to business expos and other corporate events to entice people over to their stall.

Promotional merchandise is also very prevalent amongst eCommerce companies, especially during special times of the year, like Christmas or Valentine’s. Basically, the trick is to add a little extra gift to a customer’s parcel after they have placed an order, rewarding them for their custom. This will leave a lasting impression and encourage them to come back to you in the future.

Always ensure that your promotional items are indicative of your company values. For instance, if you claim to be an environmentally friendly business, it might be worth finding branded products that are manufactured from recycled materials, to emphasise the point.

Branded items don’t always result in a massive influx of sales; they’re usually more about building brand awareness and the results will come with time. As with any marketing method, it’s always a good idea to experiment and try out various tactics until something starts to work well, and don’t give up easily.
