The Day of Love: Famous Events that Happened on Valentine’s Day

It’s almost Valentine’s Day! And whether you celebrate the day of lurve or you make sure you show someone you love them every day, you might not be aware of all of the other famous events that have happened on February the 14th.

I love finding out when important and interesting things happened in the past; I find it so fascinating, and this Infographic that Cashlady have created is full of fun facts. Did you know that Nottingham’s Torvill and Dean won Olympic Gold as far back as Valentine’s Day 1984?! That’s also the year I was born, and I had no idea they’d been so successful that long ago. They got a record 9-0f-9 perfect scores in the Sarajevo Winter Olympics!

Also, the same year, Elton John apparently married Renate Blauel – I had no idea he’d ever been married to a woman!

Also on February 14th:

• In 1985 Whitney Houston released her 1st album
• In 1991 – Silence of the Lambs was released to critical acclaim
• And both the British explorer Captain James Cook and Dolly the Sheep died over 200 years apart!
