Signs It’s Time to Upgrade to an Office
Your Home Office has been your space to run your business and if you are getting to a stage in your business where you need more room, it shows that you are growing. Startups and entrepreneurs often start from their spare room or their garage because it lowers the cost of their operation. With lower overheads, they can afford to push more money into other areas of their business in the hope it will bloom into something wonderful.
As a business owner though, there will be times when you feel ready to move out of your home office to an actual office space or a warehousing space. Whether you’re moving out to a block in the centre of the city or you’ll get a commercial building erected for all of your creations, you need to think about when it will be time to do that. Let’s take a look at some of the top signs that it’s time to start packing and move to an office.

1. Your business is growing. You started out just with you and the laptop, but the products you’ve created have now started to crowd your space at home, and they’re spreading from your spare room into your living room, your dining room, and even your kitchen. If your business inventory is starting to occupy too much space, then you need to move out so that you have more room to grow and claim your home back as your own. You could start by renting a smaller office space of a good size and build up to a commercial space, and that’s completely up to you.
2. You need more than you. If at this stage all you’ve done is hired freelancers to help and work remotely from their homes, but now you need a permanent employee working elbow to elbow, then congratulations because your growth has got you to that point. When the time comes that your business has grown like that, you need to hire more employees and it can be very hard to fit everybody in your house.
3. You plan to bulk up on your inventory. If you’re having a temporary space issue because you know that you don’t have space for the inventory for the festive season, then you need to look at self-storage options or renting a commercial unit. This can be an extension of your office space where you can access your goods 24/7 whenever you need to. If it’s going to be a long-term issue, an office space near a storage facility can help.
4. You need to hold client meetings. When you started out, you may have done coffee in the local coffee shop, but now you want something more professional. You want that boardroom vibe whenever you have clients come to you, and you can’t do that from your spare room. Consider renting an office space to help you here so that each area of your business can operate clearly.
