Level Up Your Home Office Space

If the pandemic was your first experience working remotely, you might still be unsure of whether or how long your current scenario will persist. Are you certain that this won’t change, even if you currently work in person some or all of the time? Being left in the dark about how much time, effort, and money you should spend setting up a great office at home can be unpleasant and confusing.

For a home office, you can get everything from the eccentric to the useful. But in reality, you may significantly increase your comfort and enjoyment without spending a lot of money. Your current setup can be significantly improved by making a few low-cost, easy adjustments. Ask if there is a budget for home office equipment if you work for a company that allows remote workers so you can get a few items reimbursed.

Lift Your Laptop or Monitor

Your eyes should be almost level with the top of the screen when you are using a computer. Frequently, the monitor or screen is set too low. You end up craning your neck or slouching as a result. There are two straightforward fixes. Add some books to the base of your monitor or desktop computer to raise it to a comfortable height if you’re lucky enough to have one in your home office. A laptop stand, sometimes known as a riser, as well as an external keyboard and mouse are required when using a laptop. The stand should tilt and heighten by a few inches.

Create Room for Chargers

Keep the chargers you need nearby for your gadgets. You won’t need to search around the house for a cord if the battery in your phone, headphones, or laptop starts to run low that way. In a perfect world, your desk would feature a drawer where you could keep your chargers. The next-best option can be a pretty box or perhaps a favourite empty coffee mug. Just make sure that charges are close enough to reduce distractions.

Have An Aroma In the Air

A cheap candle or a cup of piping hot water with a few drops of essential oil can be placed on your desk. If you believe in aromatherapy, lavender and other scents can have calming or energising effects on us (citrus). Even if you don’t think scents have any discernible impact on us, they can still be enjoyable. If taking a deep breath of rosemary or eucalyptus makes you joyful, adding it to your home office is a smart idea.

Stop Clutter From Amassing

A tidy workstation looks good, feels good, and is less likely to distract you. There are a few tips for keeping a tidy desk, but there is only one way to get rid of desk clutter: don’t let it start in the first place. There is also no trick to prevention. Simply avoid placing anything on your desk that is not required. You may not have a good space to work on and will need to look at office desking if you will be working from home more in the future.
