Making Your Home Office More Comfortable
If you’re fortunate enough to still be working remotely, then you’ll know how important it is to carve out your own space for working in. You don’t necessarily have to have an office space to spare or an entire room dedicated to your office work, but you do have to think about how you’re going to be comfortable while you work.
It’s not easy to work if you’re in a cramped bedroom or if you’re at the dining table all of the time, because more often than not, the furniture that you’re using isn’t designed for office use. Ergonomic office furniture is created for a reason. You need to be able to sit comfortably, to stand comfortably, and to be at the right height with the right lighting to get your work done. Comfort should be something that you focus on because it’s going to increase your productivity and it’s going to be something that keeps you motivated. So with that in mind, here are some tips on how you can make your home office more comfortable.

Wear comfortable clothing
If you’re working from home, comfort is key so you don’t need to wear stiff and stuffy suits if your job doesn’t require it. Slipping on those cosy socks is more about keeping your body temperature regulated and warm than it is about comfort. But of course, there’s still going to be more comfortable than you think. Keeping your feet warm through the winter while you’re working, especially those socks with non-skid soles can help you to prevent any trips or falls.
Shop for ergonomic furniture
We already mentioned that ergonomic home office furniture is a must, but you really need to think about this. Do you prefer to stand or sit when you work? Regardless, you need to have a desk at the right height whether you are standing or sitting, and you need to have a chair with the right postural and back support. Ergonomic furniture keeps your body comfortable and it stops you from getting shoulder aches, back aches, or aches behind your knees. This is key and an ergonomic chair can make or break how comfortable you are whilst you work.
Support pillows
Sometimes it’s not enough to put your couch cushions on the chair that you’re working on. You need to make sure that you are using highly regarded lumbar pillows so that you can add lower back support to your existing chairs. Something breathable will make sure that you’re not sweating. You’re world away and the memory foam interiors of some support pillows are there to help you to gain relief.
Add an air purifier to your basket
Your health should be a top priority, and air purifiers that have HEPA grade filters won’t necessarily stop illnesses, but they’ll definitely help you to breathe easier when you’re working. You don’t want to have to breathe in air particles that include smoke, mould or odours, and you also don’t want something that’s an eyesore. So choose an air purifier that’s discreet and can happily chug away in the background.
