Henry Bell Heritage Squirrel Proof Bird Feeder | Review & Giveaway (Ended)

This year I have finally started to get into gardening for the first time ever, and whilst I still wouldn’t say I exactly enjoy it, I am managing to maintain the work I have done and feel quite proud of actually planting things that grow and making my garden look nice.

We also started feeding the birds a few months ago and I have a little stand that we put some food out on. It took a couple of weeks for them to come, but now we have some regular blackbirds and some others that now visit us regularly. Ava loves watching the birds come in our garden and talking about what they are as do I, and of course, it’s nice to look after our wildlife.

We were also recently sent this lovely Henry Bell Heritage Squirrel Proof Fat Ball Feeder to hang in our garden so that we can help to feed more of the birds around us without it all being stolen by greedy squirrels! The feeders are really good quality and made out of durable and hard-wearing aluminium and finished in the Henry Bell antique gold and bronze. It has a strong lid which is easy to lift to add the fat balls and 3 fat balls fit in at once. It looks really nice hanging in our garden and I’m looking forward to seeing the birds enjoying these balls!

My mum always feeds the birds and she mentioned getting some fat balls and I wondered what on earth she was on about! If you are the same as I was, Fat Balls are high energy, nutritional supplements for birds that are used in bird feeders. They tend to consist of sunflower seeds and wheat or oat flakes mixed with suet, pork fat, or coconut oil.

The Superior Nut and Seed Fat Balls that we have from Henry Bell to go in our bird feeder are highly nutritious providing much-needed energy for garden birds all year round. They are fat-rich and all of the raw ingredients are of the highest quality. The grain is rich in fibre, protein and B Vitamins and contains Vitamin E, minerals and small amounts of unsaturated fatty acids. These vitamins and nutrients are crucial in safeguarding the health and well-being of birds. Fat based foods are often associated with winter feeding for wild birds but they are actually a brilliant source of energy and loved by birds all year round. All of the fat balls from Henry Bell are free from any nets which can cause harm when feeding.

You can also get the bird feeder we have for seeds or peanuts so you can feed the birds a variety of delicacies (!) without the squirrels stealing it all.

  1. Posting this to try to put an end to everyone else’s follow up comments. Not needed and definitely unwanted. Let’s see if this has fixed it….

  2. There are 4 feeders. I would love one of them because the squirrels who come into my garden are very persistent and clever. They are always chewing through the bars of my feeders and rip the bottom off of my seed feeders.

  3. They make three squirrel proof feeders and a squirrel proof cage to go over your own feeders. We have a little visitor who hangs upside down to get the bird food and drives our dog mad so this feeder would be really good to try!
