6 Easy Exercises You Can Do in Your Bedroom

If you want to exercise, you don’t have to go to the gym. In fact, there are dozens of easy exercises you can do right in your bedroom. Many of these improve your strength, mobility and even your mood, making them something that you might want to incorporate in your routine. You don’t have to spend long doing them either, just five minutes is often enough. So what are these exercises? What do we recommend?
Bodyweight squats
One of the best places to start is with bodyweight squats. All you need for these is an area where you can stand up and then space for your butt as you lower your hips. Bodyweight squats are great for the bedroom because they build multiple muscle groups at the same time and don’t involve any jumping. You can also hold on to a bed or a wall if you need help keeping your balance while performing the exercise.
Standard push-ups
Another option is to do standard push-ups. These take a bit of practice and training to get right, but they can really improve the strength of your shoulders, chest, triceps and more.
This is easy to do in the bedroom because you can just do it by the side of your bed. If you don’t have space for that, you can also do wall push-ups, which are much easier and suitable for beginners.
Trampolining
You could also look into getting a small rebounder or trampoline for your bedroom. With one of these, you can just flop out of bed and start exercising immediately. If you have a TV in your room you can also follow instructors as they show you how to exercise using this piece of equipment.
Forearm plank
You could also explore the forearm plank. This is a great exercise if you’re looking to improve your core strength, especially in your abdominal region. The forearm plank is similar to the regular plank, apart from resting on your forearms and your toes. If you find it too difficult to remain in this position or in a plank position by holding yourself up by your toes, then you can rest on your knees. Most people start planking for 15 to 20 seconds and then build up from there. If you can do more than two minutes, you’re in elite territory.
Glute bridges
Glute bridges are another option you might want to explore. With these, you lie on your back, and then you extend your hips upwards with your feet on the floor and knees bent. This exercise is very good for building the glutes, hamstrings and other parts of the core. It’s also nice if you have space for a mat next to your bed. You can do it before you get into bed.
Wall sit
Finally, you could explore the wall sit if you have wall space in your bedroom. Here, you sit against the wall as if it were a chair with your knees bent at 90 degrees and your back flat against the wall. Most professionals recommend timing yourself to see how long you can hold the wall sit and improve your performance over time.
