Steps of Dental implant: Before doing an implant, your dentist will perform the dentist procedure like examining the jawbone.

  1. Evaluation: The first step is to examine the jawbone’s condition, which includes an X-ray, taking impressions, and making an implant by matching the colour of the teeth so that it looks like your natural teeth as much as possible. You have to tell all your medical history to the dentist so that there is no problem during the surgery.
  2. Extraction: The tooth is extracted by giving local anaesthesia to a person. You will feel little pressure when the tooth is extracted. After the extraction, you should avoid smoking, excessive spitting, and other things suggested by the dentist.
  3. Inserting the implant: This is a crucial stage because it is inserted into the jawbone or under the gumline. An implant is added to the jawbone if it’s strong enough to handle the pressure. When the implant is added, the jawbone will start to grow around the implant then it becomes part of your natural gum line.
  4. Grafting: if your jawbone is not strong enough, then there is a need to add the extra bone. This bone comes from another area of the jawbone away from the implant area. This procedure is called grafting. Now, you have to wait to heal the bone before the surgeon performs the dental implant.
  5. Healing abutment: when the implants achieve stability, an abutment will be placed on top of the implant. This piece will connect the implant and the crown. It needs to fit tightly so that you can chew your food comfortably.
  6. Final impression and adding crown: After implant placement, you will have to visit the dentist for the final impression. Your dentist will make you an artificial crown.

After surgery precautions: you have to take some precautionary measures. For instance, you have to take a soft diet and avoid smoking. There may be a chance that you may feel some swelling around the implant area or face, some minor bleeding, then don’t worry about it. You should keep an ice pack handy to reduce the swelling problem.

Dental implants give confidence to people to smile again without any fear. It helps in enhancing the appearance of the person and also giving them full ability to eat properly. It feels like natural teeth. But, you have to maintain oral hygiene to keep them last longer.
