Days Out in Milton Keynes

14th October 2019

Though it lacks the long history of many of the other towns and villages in Buckinghamshire, Milton Keynes has an enormous amount to offer travellers. Being roughly equidistant from London, Birmingham and Leicester, this is a convenient getaway for a sizeable chunk of the population. There are regular trains running from Milton Keynes to Clapham junction, so you can be in and out of the town in a matter of hours.

Whether you’re bundling the kids into the back of the car for a day out or spending an entire weekend in the company of your significant other, there are plenty of things to see and do. Let’s examine some of the more popular attractions.

Gulliver’s Land

This miniature theme park might not have quite the same clout as Alton Towers, but it still offers more than two-dozen rides spread across six themed areas, as well as countless play areas spread in between. If you’re taking the kids into Milton Keynes, it’s a must-visit. Be aware that many of the rides come with height restrictions, which means children under 90cm tall may not be able to get onto the more hair-raising ones.

Indoor Karting

Formula Fast claims to be the UK’s ‘finest indoor go-karting destination’. When you look at the features on offer, it’s difficult to argue: the track is more than 500 metres long and wide enough to please a range of drivers, with corners ranging from the smooth and broad to the tight and technical. If you’d prefer an outdoor track, on the other hand, you might check out the nearby Daytona course.

Thrift Farm

If you’d prefer something a little bit more outdoorsy, then Thrift Farm might be exactly what’s called for. Set into a 52-acre working farm, this attraction offers a chance to interact with a host of animals, ranging from real farm animals like sheep, goats, chickens and pigs to smaller pets like rabbits and guinea pigs. There’s a gift shop, café and assault course to contend with, too.

Treetop Extreme

If you head down to the nearby Willen Lake, you’ll be able to combine outdoor pursuits with high-adrenaline, thanks to the Treetop Extreme high ropes course. There are more than fifty obstacles to overcome, including four zip-wires. What’s more, there are three different levels of difficulty to choose from – meaning that everyone will get a challenge, from novices to experienced adrenaline-junkies.
