Budget-Friendly Valentine’s Day Gift Ideas

29th January 2024

Valentine’s Day is right around the corner which means it’s time to get your thinking cap on. While some couples love to splash the cash on their partner, others might simply want to spend a little less on the occasion this year. You might have other financial priorities but still want to gift your other half something thoughtful.

If you’re stuck for ideas, we have you covered. Here are some thoughtful yet budget-friendly Valentine’s Day gift ideas to get you started.

Handmade cards

Even if you aren’t the most creative individual, a handmade card is a lovely sentiment – and as long as you have the right card-making supplies, it’s very simple to do. There are endless designs online that you can take inspiration from.

Alternatively, you might have your own idea that you want to bring to life. You could even go one step further and illustrate the card if you feel comfortable enough. Channel your inner artiste!

Hampers

Food, glorious food! If your partner is a foodie at heart, a hamper is a great way to combine a material gift with an experience. You can choose a theme, such as Italian or Indian food and fill it with ingredients, snacks and drinks that fit the bill. Then, you can pick a date to enjoy it together.

Instead of a themed meal hamper, you could stick with sweet treats and fill it with chocolate, muffins, brownies and all kinds of goodies. Some couples may even prefer a more practical hamper containing toiletries, cosmetics and other handy items.

Scrapbook

Scrapbooks are a great way to add bucketloads of sentimentality without spending a fortune on your partner. Ideally, you’ll keep little trinkets and keepsakes to add to it throughout the year to spruce it up a little.

This might include theatre tickets, gig flyers and more, alongside prints and photos. If you’re not sure about doing this from scratch, you could always compile a photo album digitally and have it made into a book in time for the occasion.

An activity

Everyone celebrates Valentine’s Day differently, so don’t feel dissuaded from thinking outside the box. For many, gifts might not be their thing, in which case, an activity where you can spend quality time together is a natural solution.

You could plan the occasion together so that you’re both on the same page or you can go all out with a surprise day out or trip away. Something as simple as cooking a nice dinner with candles and flowers to set the mood will do the trick. Alternatively, if you’re both the outdoorsy type, you could go out for a hike and pack a picnic to eat once you reach a viewpoint. For many, quality time like this outdoes material gifts every time.
