Over the past couple of years, I have found a deep love for more comfortable underwear. Maybe it’s my age, maybe it’s lockdown and having spent more time at home, maybe it was my surgery or maybe it’s a bit of all three. But comfortable underwear and clothing, in general, is now high on my list of wants.
However, I also want those comfy bras and knickers to look good and to feel nice. I don’t want bra tops to give me a mono-boob or flatten them down or give me no support whatsoever. I want to be comfy but I want to be stylish too godammit.
I want my (much-worn) leggings to be high-waisted without digging into my belly/operation scar/hernia, thick enough but not too thick, stretchy but not too stretchy and just really comfortable to wear.
So I am always looking for the perfect leggings or the perfect crop top for when I don’t want to wear a proper bra.
I reviewed some items from Boody a few years ago and I loved them but I think these new products I have been sent are even better and fit all of my comfy-clothing criteria.
I chose the Racerback Sports Bra hoping the shape of it would give me a bit of extra support and I could wear it out during the day out and about without feeling frumpy and shapeless.
And I love it. It does exactly that for me. It’s a medium support sports bra so it’s soft and easy to pull on, and the racerback shape helps support my heavy boobs and gives a nice bit of cleavage.
The Boody Racerback sports bra would be perfect for lower impact exercise like yoga or cycling and I find it so comfy for wearing on long dog walks.
I’m never quite sure which way to go with the sizing for pull-on bra tops as my boobs are big but if I choose a large then it can be too big around my body, so I went for a medium and it is perfect with enough coverage over my boobs and the support I need without pulling on my shoulders or back.
It looks really nice too and the material is so soft against your skin. The straps are nice and wide without being too wide, and it looks great as a sort of top underneath a shirt or top.
The Boody Active High Waist Leggings are my absolute new favourite black leggings. I said that last time about the Boody leggings but it’s true.
I chose these in black in a size medium as I find that I don’t usually need to size up in leggings, but I was slightly worried as I was pulling them on for the first time that I had made an error and they wouldn’t go up my legs.
But thankfully they did and once they are on they fit me perfectly and beautifully. They have the perfect high-waist for me. I have a flipping hernia from my surgery two years ago and so I can’t have anything digging into that part, but these go above the hernia and smooth over it with the wide waistband without pressing too hard, which is particularly perfect for me at the moment.
The material of the leggings is absolutely incredible; it feels almost silky but they’re not shiny at all, just so beautifully soft and smooth.
These are ‘active’ leggings’ but you can (and I do) wear them as normal clothing for every day as they are nice and plain and pretty much just look like normal leggings other than the pockets.
I love the pockets though. It means I can slip my phone into them when I’m doing the school run with the dog in my arms and I’m trying not to drop my keys and my phone (or the dog) as I rush across the playground to pick up Ava’s lunchbox as I wait for her (always the last out) class to come out!
The pockets are also just lovely for slipping your hands into and delighting at the soft feel of the material against your skin. If you owned these leggings you’d know what I mean.
The Active High Waist Leggings are the perfect length on me at 5ft 4” but I think they would be good for anyone a bit smaller or taller too. They have a great amount of stretch in them so they are so comfy to wear, and I find that they are slightly slimming on me too which I won’t be complaining about.
Made of a blend of organic, sustainable bamboo and cotton, they have a lightweight breathability and flexible stretch with a really comfortable fit. They feel like brilliant quality and I think they’ll last so well.
