In the world of business, there are always going to be those things that allow you to do well, and those things that hold you back. And as a business owner, it’s always going to be up to you to work out what is best for your company. Marketing is always going to be important. But the way in which your personal business chooses to market is very much going to be different to the next. Because business is personal. However, one thing that will be common across all businesses, is branding. You may all have different brands and brand values, but the idea of having a brand is important. It will forever reinforce the marketing you do, and it will often sell your business for you. So, let’s explore how your business can build a strong brand.

Owning Who You Are

The first part of the process is to work out who you are. Who your company is. To do this, think about your customer and who you’re targeting. But also keep in mind your core brand values – or set them if you don’t have any yet. See your company as a person. So that you’re able to work out who that person is, to then personify that into your brand.

Creating That Image

And then you can bring it alive. This is where design comes in. You need to pick out the look of your brand. From the colours to the logo – it all matters. And you need set brand guidelines so you know what you’re working with and not to deviate from it.

Staying Consistent

Then, you need consistency. Because brand compliance is key. And if you’re not going to be able to stick to what you’ve set out at the beginning, you may need to get more in tune with your brand. You need to control it – live and breathe it. Your fonts and colours and logo and voice needs to be integrated across the entire business so that a consistent front can be shown.

You can use a social media mockup to create a brilliant design for your social media profiles that is professional and beautiful, whilst remaining affordable. The mockups give you the flexibility to create the perfect designs for your brand simply, whilst giving you the correct sizes required for all of your social media sites. That way, you can use the same design across all of your profiles and maintain your brand consistency, making your customers come to recognise you.

Projecting

From here, you then need to be able to project that image. And it’s all about your attitude, your voice, and what you’re putting out there. It’s true that a brand image is made up in the mind of consumers. But projecting the right image from the start helps. So with everything that you’re doing externally and even internally, you absolutely need to make sure that a strong image is being made at all times.

Engaging Your Audience

Finally, you are then going to want to make sure that the brand you are building is right for your audience. And the only way that you’re going to be able to find that out is if you test it. So get out there. Market yourself. Talk to your customers. See who is listening to what you have to say. If you’ve done everything right, then you should be attracting the customers in your target audience. If not, then you may have some fine-tuning to do before you start to see results.
