Why Having a Pet Dog Would Boost Everyone’s Quarantine Period

The quarantine period has been a difficult one for us all. Even those of us that like being isolated anyway are finding it difficult. The world has pretty much been brought to an immediate halt, and it’s a very, very strange atmosphere. It’s unlike anything we’ve ever seen before, and once it’s done and dusted, we probably won’t see anything like it again. Much like previous pandemics of yesteryear, future students in schools and future historians will look back on this with great vigour.

For now, however, we need to find ways to occupy ourselves and make this entire experience a little more positive. We also need a way to make it feel like it’s going quicker so that we can get back to our normal lives a little smoother. What can make self-isolation a little sweeter? Might I suggest a puppy? Good idea, huh? Most of you would agree with this sentiment. For those of you who are a little sceptical, however, here are a few reasons why this would be ideal:

They’ll Provide Unconditional Love At This Time

This is a pretty difficult time right now. Some days are totally fine; other days are pretty brutal. As we said before, it’s an unprecedented set of circumstances, so we’re being put through the wringer in terms of our collective mental health. We were always constantly chasing our next high or our next opportunity to relax even during pre-quarantine, but now that kind of activity has been kicked up a few notches.

A little pup will be able to make things feel a lot better around the house – this is a fact. For some reason, their playful attitudes and energy are so infectious. They also see us as their gods, so they’ll do anything for us if we treat them right. It feels so good having them around.

You’ll Get To Practice Being A Guardian A Little More

Being a dog owner or a guardian to any little being is quite difficult, and there can be some pretty tedious days. Now that you’re indoors a lot more and around them a lot more, you’ll get to practice being a mother/father. What would’ve taken you around six months to get used to will now take you around half the time! You’ll get to learn much faster about certain products they might need, such as Nexgard Spectra and alike, in order to fix their teeth or their insides.

And, hey, this may help you in the future if you’re set on becoming an actual parent one day!

Tricks And Fun!

Teaching your dog a few tricks and making them a little more obedient can be quite difficult – especially if they’re not naturally inclined to learn, and they’re not the most attentive! If you’re indoors a lot more due to the current saga, then you’ll have more of an opportunity in terms of teaching. You could come up with all kinds of tricks, and they’ll be a lot more used to listening to what you have to say.

Exercise!

Walking them every day is usually enough exercise for a person, but because you’re around them a lot more, you’ll be a lot more active. We talked about the energy they bring, and we’ll simply echo what we mentioned there. All the previous points mean that they’ll keep your heart rate a little higher than normal, meaning you’ll be a lot fitter and have a lot more energy in the future!
