Top Signs that you are Ready for Marriage

12th February 2019

Getting married is a huge deal. You will be committing yourself to someone else and you will also be promising to stay with them for the rest of your life. If you are in a serious relationship then marriage may be on the cards, but if you are not quite sure if you are ready or not then you can get some helpful tips right here.

You Love Yourself

You really cannot be happy with someone unless you love yourself first. You can rely on your partner for support when you are upset but marriage is really about joining two different lives together. It’s not about giving one up at all and being content in your own skin means not looking to your partner to try and fill that void that you have. If you are finding it hard to love yourself then think about it, why don’t you like who you are? You can also write down actionable steps that will help you to overcome the barriers that you have in your life as well. By doing this, you can then be happier as a result, and you can also feel much more comfortable in who you are.

You Can Relate to Love Songs

You probably used to make fun of love songs because they are gushy and full of cheesy lines. If you find that you can now relate to them, or if you find that you feel as though your loved one gives you butterflies every time you look at them, then this is a sign that you are ready to take that next step. You may have found “the one” and you may also be ready to make that commitment to each other.

You’re Not Searching Anymore

If you believe that you have found the one, then there is a high chance that you have deleted all of those dating apps, don’t spend all your time searching for an Lviv strip club and have stopped talking with other people who you were once interested in. You may feel as though you are content in the relationship that you have right now, and that you are focused on making the most out of it. You might feel as though the security you have with your loved one is something that you want to have for the rest of your life, and if this is the case then wedding bells are right around the corner. Of course, if you are not happy in your relationship or if you find yourself second-guessing all of the decisions that you have made then it may be worth consulting with family law lawyers to see if they can help with the legal side of things.

Your friends and Family

If you aren’t sure if you are ready to get married then it is a good idea for you to look to your friends and your family. They may be telling you that this is the real deal and that they are right behind you. Sometimes your friends and your family can see your life from a different perspective and they may even notice things that you don’t. Talk with them and see what they think. If they are bringing up red flags or if they aren’t sure if the other person is right for you then it is worth considering this. Sure, it may feel as though they are not happy for you, but this is not the case at all. They are looking out for your wellbeing, and they are also trying to give you the support you need, which is what friends are for! If you want to get the best result out of this conversation, then try and see things from their point of view and also try and look at your relationship from a logical perspective rather than a logical perspective.

You Feel Invincible

It doesn’t matter whether you are tag-teaming on the grocery shopping or whether you are putting a piece of furniture together with one another because at times you may feel invincible. You may feel as though you can take on the whole world, and this is a great sign. You probably feel more confident when you are doing things together, and that things just feel “right”. Of course, if you feel as though you are better doing things on your own, or if you don’t like it when your partner tries to help then this could be a sign that you are not ready for marriage. After all, marriage really is about working together and if you are not a team player then this could really affect you in the future.

You Don’t have a Problem saying Sorry

Everyone messes up at some point. If you are thinking about staying with someone for the rest of your life then you need to be able to look at them and say that you’re sorry. It also has to be sincere. If you don’t feel as though you need to apologise or if you feel as though you are always right then this is not going to help you in married life. Saying sorry is healthy and it can help you to smooth out any bumps in the road too. If you don’t apologise or deal with your problems then they will only get worse and it may even lead to bigger arguments too.

You Don’t Try and Walk Out

If something goes wrong, or if your romantic counterpart is really trying hard to avoid making any difficult decisions then this can prompt you to try and walk out. You may try and give them ultimatums and you may also try and threaten to break up with them if they don’t do what you say. If this happens then you may not be ready to commit to them. Marriage really is about working together and if you are constantly trying to argue or cause problems then this is the opposite of what you are supposed to be doing. Remember that marriage absolutely won’t fix this and that you should only enter that commitment if you are truly ready.

You Can Discuss your Ex

Your ex may bring up some memories for you, whether they are good or bad. Either way, it is important that you are able to talk with them about it. You also have to make sure that your partner is completely over their old flame, and that they have learnt their lesson as a result. It’s also important to know that you are over your old flame too. If your partner has a ton of crazy exes then this could imply that they are the problem. If they are constantly talking with their ex and you find this uncomfortable then you should feel comfortable enough to talk with them about this. If you don’t then this could indicate that there is a problem and it needs to be dealt with.

Effort is Mandatory

Everyone loves to say that true love doesn’t require any effort at all. This is not true, and every kind of love requires some level of effort. Affection may be easy at times and you may even want to work on your problems so that you can be a better person for your partner. The actual relationship requires work as well, however. You need to make the point that you will argue and that sometimes things will go wrong. As long as you are willing to put the effort in, and as long as you are always happy to try and push yourself then you shouldn’t have any problems at all. Of course, it is important to know that your partner is willing to put the effort in as well. If they aren’t then this can indicate that there is an underlying issue. They need to know that marriage isn’t all sunshine and rainbows, and that sometimes you have to work to keep that spark alive.

You’re Financially Stable

One of the many reasons why a lot of couples start to argue is because of money. Sure, you don’t need to be rich if you want to get married but having a good income will certainly help. You also have to be able to communicate as a couple and be able to work through financial decisions. If you earn way more money than your partner, then you have to make sure that this isn’t going to affect you later down the line. Think about it, have they expressed any feelings about this? Do they feel as though you should change jobs? Little things like this need to be smoothed out right now.

You Don’t Test Each Other

If you are wondering why your partner didn’t text back right away or if you feel the need to check their phone, then this can indicate that you have underlying trust issues. You may feel as though they look at other people with more affection than you and this is not a good sign. Remember that marriage won’t fix issues like this, in fact, it may even make them worse, so it is important that you consider this when making that big decision.
