The Things I’ve Been Loving in September

3rd October 2019

Hello hello!

I can’t believe it’s October already. This year has totally flown by and it’s scaring me a bit – I need everything to slow down, please. It’s already been over six weeks since my surgery already which just seems crazy and has gone so fast.

I’m feeling much better and can move much more easily now, although my stomach is feeling quite tender since I started driving and doing the school runs again last week. I’m only comfortable in dresses still – anything tighter across my belly, even leggings is uncomfortable – which is great in this wet and chilly weather!

I haven’t shared anything that I’ve been loving recently, mainly because I was spending a lot of time recovering in bed, so I thought I would share them in my September favourites.

Things I’ve Been Loving in September

Moonstone ring from Carrie Elizabeth

I was recently sent this beautiful 14k Gold Vermeil Vintage Flower Ring* ring from Carrie Elizabeth, and I haven’t stopped wearing it since I got it. I’d never heard of Carrie Elizabeth Jewellery before but they do SO much lovely stuff and I pretty much want all of their Moonstone Rings. Moonstone is said to hold many valuable properties for women. It is a stone of calm and relief from emotional stress and the lustrous stone shines an iridescent pink/blue hue in the light, reflecting the wax and wane of the moon’s own natural cycle, bringing balance to the hormonal cycle and aiding with fertility – I love that! The photos don’t do the beautiful sparkliness justice at all (but they do show up my hand wrinkles very nicely).

My ring is made up of a rose cut, semi-precious moonstone at the centre of white topaz petals and is set onto a 14k Gold Vermeil band. It is so sparkly and pretty and I love it so much. Their products are handmade by artisans in Jaipur, India and all of their diamonds and products are ethically sourced and produced. It’s definitely a brand I’ll go to when I’m looking for some special jewellery again.

My Mum

She told me to put her as a favourite, but to be fair to the old lady she has been amazing recently, helping me out a lot after my op, and I’m very grateful to her – thanks, Mum! Love you, ya fecking eejit.

you are the best mummy noteI didn’t write this…

Gin & Tonics

Gin and Tonics are my new wine! I’m addicted! I’ve always liked them but I couldn’t drink more than a couple at a time – well now I can! And I do, far too often. I just find them so refreshing and satisfying and I want one now, but it’s only 4.40pm, although it is a horrible day and I’ve got a horrible cold, so it’s probably acceptable, right? Right? Good.

Reading

I have finally started reading books again and I’m so pleased about it. I have read 5 books over the last couple of months and listened to a couple of audiobooks too. I haven’t really felt like watching tv much, so I’ve been reading in bed and trying to have an early night which always fails if the book’s any good.

I’m currently reading The Perfect Child by Lucinda Berry which I wasn’t sure about from the premise, but I thought I would give it a try because I got it free with Kindle Unlimited (which I’m currently in a free trial of), although it’s pretty cheap on Kindle anyway. And I’m really enjoying it and haven’t been able to put it down, although it’s pretty disturbing and hard to read at times, and I’ve also read lots of reviews saying it ends very abruptly and without a proper finale, which is super annoying.

Ané Makeup Bag

I got this Ané makeup bag or toiletries bag recently and I think it’s great. You can fit loads in and it opens up completely flat so you can see everything all at once without having to rummage around in your Mary-Poppins’-bag-like makeup kit. Then you can just scoop it all up together with the drawstrings and close the velcro strap. It’s so clever. I haven’t been away for ages (woe is me) but I know this will be brilliant for travelling and I reckon I could fit all of my toiletries and makeup in it all at once.

Is there anything, in particular, you have been loving over this last month? Let me know below!

glad to hear you are healing and getting back on your feet again, September got me on my feet when I did the Camino De Santiago albeit not all 500kms but 215kms in 9 days with my sister and my daughter, picked up an injury on last day and nearly two weeks after finishing I’m back on my feet again also
