Life Lately

19th April 2018

Hi friends!

How are you on this lovely sunny Thursday? I hope you are well and getting back into your routine again now that the kiddos have gone back.

The Easter holidays feel like an absolute blur; they really seemed to fly by, but we did some fun stuff and Ava had a nice break. It was a damn shame about the crappy weather, but we just cracked out the craft stuff on the rainiest days and then made the most of the better days.

My cat Daisy

Oh my lovely darling Daisy. My little cat has been really poorly and she’s likely only got a few weeks left. She’d gone really quiet a couple of months ago, stopped going out, and had got even skinnier than normal (she’s always been a skinny minnie) so we took her to the vets, who thought he could feel something. She’s been on antibiotics and then steroids which should have helped if it was Inflammatory Bowel Disease, but also if it was cancer it could have helped for a little while. I won’t go into details but she got worse after being on steroids (and she’s a freaking nightmare taking tablets – she’s got insanely good at stopping us getting them in!) so we went back to the vets and he’s pretty positive it’s cancer, and because of how she was he said it may only be a few weeks now until the end, or at least until we have to make a tough decision.

She still seems fine in herself other than when she goes to the loo so we’re all happy that she’s still happy for now. Weirdly she’s actually seemed much more like her old self over the last few days; she’s really loving again, eating more, and going out more so I can’t help being a little bit optimistic, but we shall see. It’s all been really sad, especially with Ava. She said to me after we told her that we might have to say goodbye soon “Mummy, how will I live without Daisy? Because I’ve had her for all of my life, haven’t I”. It’s so sad. And Daisy is only about 9 (we adopted her so can’t be sure) so I just wasn’t expecting it. All of my cats have always lived to a ripe old age.

So I’m currently treating her as much as possible, letting her drink water from the bath tap, and letting her sleep in our room (I’ve always stopped her because she liked to stick her face into mine at 5am every morning and I ain’t down with that).

Scarborough

We headed to Scarborough for a night at the end of the holidays and it was really nice to get away, albeit briefly. It was a bit rainy and very foggy, but we still had a lovely time. Ava went in the sea in her wellies and obviously got completely soaked, we enjoyed really good fish and chips, stood and watched the big waves spilling over onto the pavements, and won some very ugly smurfs in the arcades (Ava is disproportionately proud of me for winning them). It was really nice.

Fitness Blender

I’m on Day 5 of Fitness Blender’s ‘5 Day Workout Challenge for Busy People‘ and I’m feeling good. I’ve done Fitness Blender workouts for years now, and I love them (I’m actually writing a post about them at the moment) but I really wanted (and needed) to get back into them properly again so that I feel better. The workouts are knackering but I really see and feel a difference quickly, and they only take up around half an hour of my day. I’m determined to keep going with them this time (especially now the sun is out!).

After completing 4 days I’m already feeling quite a bit slimmer and a bit more toned, which is lovely, and really motivates me to keep going. I’ll potentially be wearing a bikini in front of other bloggers and media types in a few weeks, and I’m determined that I’ll feel better about myself by then. Not that I need to look good for them, obviously, but I want to feel more confident for myself.

In other news, Ava has lost her two front teeth, so we’re getting her to say lots of words beginning with S, and I’m excited to finally put my winter clothes away and get my summer clothes out today! It feels crazy that just a few days ago we were still wrapping up in scarves and coats (the Scarborough pictures above were taken last Friday!), and now it’s bare legs weather! I’m very happy about it though.

Hope you have a lovely rest of the week and get chance to enjoy some sunshine xxx
