Does Your Child Suffer from Separation Anxiety

If your child copes well with spending time away from you, the chances are it will be easier for them to settle into nursery with limited distress. Practise being apart by arranging for them to spend a day with a babysitter or a family member to see how they react. Whatever the outcome, it will be a strong indicator as to whether or not they are ready for nursery. 

Is Your Child Comfortable Interacting with Other Children?

Social interaction is a major element of nursery and something that your child will have to get used to one way or another. Have they had much practice so far? Do they understand that they need to share and take turns?

Is Your Child Potty Trained?

Lots of nurseries require the little ones to be potty trained. It will help them avoid any embarrassing accidents, so it’s worth getting to work on this if you haven’t already.

No matter how old your child is when you eventually decide to enrol them in nursery, there will be a set of distinctive challenges. For instance, if you choose to send your child to nursery before their first birthday, you will miss out on many of their milestone experiences. On the other hand, if they join when they’re older, they might find it harder to adjust to being away from you. Whatever you decide, make sure to do plenty of research and choose a nursery that you’re genuinely satisfied with and that suits your requirements.
