A winter wedding is a funny one; when you think of weddings you often think of hats, summer dresses and garden parties, however when someone decides to have a winter wedding it’s hard to know what to wear. Autumn and winter fashion comes out, and it’s mostly dark colours and more suited for a funeral than a wedding, so what should you do?

Winter weddings are gorgeous, though remember, they don’t mean shivering and getting wet but think of the crisp, cold air and the potential snow you might get, which will give you fairytale-inspired photos and an even better day to remember. The only thing that’s difficult about a winter wedding is deciding what to wear as a guest. So many wedding-guest dresses are designed for warmer weather-with capped sleeves or no sleeves at all, so what should you wear? Do you need to do anything else differently for a winter wedding than you would for any other?

What’s On Trend

It’s obviously easy and useful to look at what is available right now, and luckily frocks are in; long sleeves, maxi or midi lengths and there are some gorgeous patterns out there too. Pair with some fabulous ankle boots and a coat or leather jacket, and you will be totally on-trend and looking like the perfect wedding guest as well as keeping warm. If you’re not sure where to look, then SilkFred, Zara, and Never Fully Dressed are all good places to start. Even if you don’t find what you want, you might find some inspiration for something else. Also, remember that many of these dresses don’t look like anything on the hanger, but once they’re on, they look a million dollars. Although it’s winter, you don’t need to go too full on with a big puffer jacket and fluffy boots, most venues which cater for the winter wedding like https://woodhallmanor.com/weddings/winter-weddings/ are usually very accommodating of the weather outside. They will keep you warm inside the venue.

Accessories with Faux Fur

No matter how much coverage your dress gives you, having a little something extra to add warmth aside from your actual coat can be really helpful. Choose something stylish, like faux fur, which is an affordable accessory to dress up your outfit at the same time as adding warmth. Faux fur is all over the runways, it’s timeless, it’s a classic, and it will be the icing on the cake for any winter wedding outfit.

Add Some Sparkle and Shine

Sparkle and shine are what winter celebrations are all about, so what better occasion than a wedding to get sparkly? Metallic hues are everywhere this season-in makeup, clothing, you name it, and metallics and crystals are ruling the runways too. Even if you don’t plan to wear a shiny or sequined dress, there is almost no excuse not to add a little dazzle to your outfit by way of crystal earrings or a glittering clutch bag. The darkness of winter makes it the perfect time to shine-and what better place than a wedding?
