A Guide to Planning a Milestone Birthday Party

15th January 2020

Have you or a loved one got a milestone birthday coming up? These are key life moments and it is important to celebrate them not only so that you have an enjoyable time but also so that you loved ones get an opportunity to celebrate and show their love. How you celebrate will depend entirely on your own personality, but planning a party is a great option as it allows you to get everyone that you care about in one room for some fun. Planning a party can be stressful, but it is actually relatively straightforward when you break it down into sections.

Guest List

Before you start looking at venues, it is a good idea to make a list of everyone that you want there. This will give you an indication of the sort of size place that you will need for the party. Additionally, make this list as far ahead of the party as possible and send out invitations so that people do not make other plans.

Venue

You can then start to look at venues. You could host the party at your home if space permits which can be a good way to lower costs, or you could reserve an area in a pub or bar, or look to hire out a venue that does private functions. Wherever you choose, it should be somewhere that you like and feel comfortable, plus it should be easy to find and reach.

Food & Drink

Of course, no party is complete without a good range of food and drink. Buffet food tends to be a good choice as it allows people to pick and choose and continue to socialise while they eat. This can easily be made at home, purchased at the store or you could even use a professional catering company if your budget allows.

Drink choices can be tailored to the likes of the person who’s birthday it is, to really make it special for them. For example, you could get a keg of craft beer from a company like Melvin Brewing so that they can enjoy their favourite ale all night long. This works especially well if you are hosting the party in your own home, but often venues will allow you to provide some of the alcohol yourself. Make sure you provide a range of drinks, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic to ensure that every taste is catered for.

Music

Music is another important part of any party. It is important to pick music that everyone enjoys, but it should also be to the taste of the person who’s birthday it is. Hiring a live band or having somebody DJ can be a nice touch, but you could also simply make a playlist which is played through the venue (or your home) Hi-Fi system.

Decoration

Decorations can help to make the place look nice and add to the celebratory atmosphere. You do not have to completely transform the space, but a few decorations and personal touches like photographs can be a really lovely touch. Some balloons always transform a room and make it look more festive and special and really brighten any place up. You can look for comapnies that provide them all for you and set them up by seraching for say Balloon Company Dallas or whatever area you are hosting the party.

A landmark birthday should always be celebrated with friends and family. If you are planning a large celebration, then the above are the main areas that you will need to plan for in order for the event to be special, fun and memorable. It can be helpful to enlist some help as these events can be stressful to arrange by yourself, but once everything is in place, you can then relax and celebrate.
