If you’re wondering what to do with the kids this summer, check out our ideas below, from simple day outings to new activities.

Visit the City

A city visit over the weekend is a quick and easy way to get the kids excited. London is full of family-friendly options to keep energetic kids busy. From engaging exhibitions to playgrounds and carnivals, there is bound to be something that will entertain your whole family.

Kids with a competitive streak can enjoy table tennis at Bounce in Battersea Power Station. They can challenge the ping pong robot, go for a traditional match against you, or master their shuffleboard technique. The extensive menu will keep them fueled with sourdough garlic strips and pizza galore.

Get Outside

Simple outdoor fun is easy when the sun’s out. Family barbeques are an excellent option for inviting friends over and chatting under the pergola with a bacon butty while the kids play in the garden.

The summer is the perfect time to take the family on an outing to a picturesque manor house. Nunnington Hall in North Yorkshire features a Lion’s Den play area designed for little explorers, complete with a wooden climbing frame and a rope bridge. Get them interested in gardening and birdwatching by taking them to the garden, which features compost beds and an area where they can spot different feathered species. It can be a good idea to invest in a pair of binoculars. You’ll be surprised how many birds can hide in plain sight!

Book a Summer Holiday

Organising a summer holiday abroad doesn’t need to be stressful. You can eliminate the hassle of sorting flights and hotels by booking holiday packages that cater to your family’s needs, including all-inclusive hotels.

Look for destinations that can be reached with a direct flight from your nearest airport. Spain has long been a family favourite thanks to its endless sandy beaches and attractions for all ages. The Canary Islands boast over 300 days of sunshine a year, with unique volcanic landscapes and watersports opportunities.

Try Something New Together

Geocaching is an excellent activity for the whole family to get absorbed in. You’ll use your smartphone to locate hidden containers, also known as geocaches, at specific locations marked by coordinates. The kids will explore parks or the countryside without it feeling like a normal walk, and work on their problem-solving skills without even realising it.

For families who like the idea of camping but prefer a more comfortable experience, glamping and eco-lodges offer a great alternative. The kids will love running around and looking for beetles during the day, and you won’t have to worry about losing sleep on the hard floor, leaving everyone refreshed and ready for tomorrow.
