Five Entertainment Ideas for a Garden Party

23rd May 2018

When you are planning your garden party, you often only focus on the food and the seating, and forget about planning your entertainment. No matter if you are having a family gathering or a fun night with your friends, it is your responsibility as a host to provide entertainment. Planning ahead and making sure that everyone can take part will make your party the one to remember for many years to come. Find a few entertainment ideas below to get you started.

1. Lawn Games

From bowling to lawn darts, you can get giant garden sets that will get everyone involved. You might also introduce your guests to some of the less known games, such as lawn chess, word search, or Jenga. You might even get a huge floor puzzle for the patio and invite the kids and adults to work together completing it. No matter which game you are planning, you have to consider the preferences and abilities of all guests.

2. Pub Quiz

If you are having a night entertainment during your garden party, you can throw in some pub quizzes for your friends. There are plenty of great questions and answers on the internet, or you can use an app to randomly allocate questions for each team, so you cannot be accused of being unfair. Consider the age and culture of your guest, and don’t make the questions too challenging. Remember, it is all about having fun, not being the smartest at everything.

3. Music Quiz

Another great way of getting people to embrace the competitive spirit at your party is organising a music quiz. Consider which styles and eras your guests are familiar with, and create teams in a way that they represent every generation. Play the first three seconds of the track for three points, the first five for two, and the first seven for one. This can be a great way of getting people to work together as a team and get to know each other better.

4. Dance Off

Younger guests will enjoy the challenge of a dance off competition. You can choose a judge for each round, and create small rewards and prizes for the winners. Kids will love this activity, and adults will be happy to take part considering they know everyone in the group. Nobody wants to show off their crazy dance moves in front of strangers.

5. Live Music

The simplest and most universal summer party entertainment option is hiring a live band or getting a friend to play a few songs. You can get a list of available function bands for hire online and choose the one with the most competitive offers and best demo songs. Live music is great for birthday parties and special occasions, too.

When planning your summer garden party, you shouldn’t forget about the entertainment that is tailored to the needs and taste of your guests. Before choosing the right option, consider the demographics, culture, and personal preferences of people invited.
