Business Travel – The Do’s and Don’ts

10th March 2020

In such an interconnected era, business travel is becoming more and more common in a range of industries. You may find yourself working with people across the country, or even across the sea, and you’re being asked to make a business trip to see them. This article is going to take you through some of the do’s and don’ts of business travel!

DON’T leave everything until the last minute

One of the most important things to remember is that you need to be organised and prepared for your business trip. Spend the days or even weeks before checking everything is in order and everything is ready for your trip. Do you have any travel documents that you need and are they in a safe place? Is your passport up to date if you are travelling overseas? Do you have the correct luggage needed for your trip?

All of these questions are vital and you should be asking them yourself before the last minute.

DO use a chauffeur service

When you are making business trips to busy and bustling cities such as London, chauffeur services are a fantastic way to make your business trip run smoothly and hassle-free. Using a chauffeur and booking it in advance means that you can relax with the peace of mind that you will be picked up and taken to your destination by a professional. No standing on the street corner trying to flag down a taxi. You will be in a professional car, drinking a bottle of water and reading the local newspaper, saving your effort and energy for the important business you are there for.

DO keep your receipts

If you are on a business trip – you should be claiming your expenses from your business. Ensure that you keep all of your receipts and that you are fully aware of how to claim back all the things that you are entitled to – no matter how small!

DON’T forget that this is a business trip

If you are travelling overseas for a business trip, you may feel like you are going on holiday, and granted – it is very exciting, especially if it’s your first time! However, you must remember that you are away for business, and that you are representing your company and you must stay professional.

Make sure that you are the professional and respectable individual that you would want clients to see you as.

DO dress to impress

You are going to a new place to meet new people on an exciting business trip. Dress to impress these people, get your new tie, wear your new shiny shoes and wear your flashy watch!

You want these people to think the best things about you, and starting with a great style and outfit is a great first impression – first impressions go a long way in business.

DON’T overwork yourself

Although it’s important to remember that your travels are for work, it is also important to remember to give yourself a break, just like in everyday life. If you have spare time – go and see this new place that you have travelled to and enjoy some of the sites and go and enjoy some of the local food.

It’s great to wind down and make sure that your head is clear for all the fantastic work that you are doing on your business trip.

So, now you’ve got some tips about business travel – you should be excited and ready to tackle your trip, but above all, be safe!
