Working & Studying Combined: Is It Possible To Succeed?

17th September 2018

When it comes to your career, naturally you want to ensure that you are going in the right direction, which is why sometimes you can yearn to make changes to where you are at. Of course, the issue is that if you are stuck in a job that you really don’t enjoy, it can feel almost impossible to get out of it. You feel totally trapped by where you are now and it can mean staying stuck in the dead-end job that you have and hate.

If you rely on your income, it can be too much of a risk to quit your job in search of a better role. Because often, to be able to do that, you need to gain the key skills required from the industry, via an internship or through higher education. Of course, the issue with going down this path is that it can be a total nightmare because you usually have to quit your job and leave your income behind to be able to undertake either of these.

However, that doesn’t have to be the case – it is possible to combine both! Want to know how? Then have a read of these useful tips and pieces of advice.

Study around work

So you might not be able to afford to leave your job right now but that doesn’t have to mean that you can’t achieve your career goals. Have you ever considered studying around your work? The fact is that although it would mean putting a lot of your free time into studying, it is most definitely possible to study around your day job. Wondering how? There are two options here, you could either go to night school or you could opt to do an online course, such as a master computer engineering course, for instance. Learning online can be the perfect way to fit studying around your work.

Partake in a remote internship

If you require an internship to gain the key skills that you are lacking, then it could be a good idea to look at taking part in a remote internship. You might not think that this kind of internship has the potential to be beneficial but as long as you are learning from a specialist in the field and are partaking in various tasks, you will gain a range of fantastic skills and lots of experience. Remote working can work extremely well when it comes to changing your career path, which is why it’s such a popular route to go down.

Hone your skills yourself

In addition to taking the time to undertake some extra learning and potentially an internship to further your skills and knowledge, it’s important that you also put in time yourself to hone your skills. A simple way to do that is to launch a blog that focuses on your ideal career sector, because as you write articles for your blog, you will improve your understanding, knowledge and skills too, making it a worthwhile thing to do.

The fact is that you can combine working and studying and succeed. It might mean doing a lot of hard work but it is most definitely possible, and that is what it’s important to remember.
