What Are the Attributes of a Successful Entrepreneur?

Many budding Elon Musk’s ask this question in their quest for business success and in this short article, we do our best to give you some answers. We are all unique, no two people are identical and with that in mind, here are a few attributes that we think a successful entrepreneur should possess.

Foresight

The ability to see the future is invaluable in business; if you can see something that others can’t, then you have an edge. This is not something that can be taught, you either have it or you don’t. If, for example, you see a need for digital marketing, contacting King Kong is better than simply doing nothing.

Determination

If you are laser-focused and never let anything come between you and your goals, this is a valuable attribute to have. There will be times when the going gets tough and this is when you have to grit your teeth, bite down and see it through. Don’t let others affect your positive attitude and you will go far.

Positive mental attitude

Most successful entrepreneurs would regard their PMA as their most valuable asset and if you always see life in a positive way, this will go a long way towards helping you make it to the top.

Fairness

Fair play matters in business; if you manage a large team of employees and you are seen to favour some over others, this will cause morale to drop. Be hard but be fair and most importantly, be seen to be so!

Patience

Not everything can happen overnight; there are times when you should wait rather than take action now and knowing when to do that isn’t something you can learn, rather it is either within you or it isn’t.

Humility

It’s OK to admit that you made a mistake; indeed, your staff will respect you more when you hold your hands up and admit a failure. Humble people are well-balanced and employees need the right role models.

Fearlessness

There are times when you have to take chances; fortune favours the brave, or so they say. While fear is one of nature’s tools to keep you alive, fear in a business environment is not going to help you.

If you are a small business owner and you think you lack in any of the above, talk to an experienced business coach and they can create a special course to help you develop your skillsets.
