Send out invitations

Begin with an invitation that isn’t your typical fare, as your invitation will set the tone for the entire event. It should include all of the necessary information, such as location, date, and time, but something lighthearted is usually preferable because it suggests a good time before they even arrive. Make your own, if you have the time, or for a real luxury touch, look at custom foil invitations

Choose the right combo of guests

You are not required to invite everyone you know. In fact, a smaller, more intimate affair is frequently more effective. Try to invite guests that you think will click, even if they have not met before. You might want to leave anyone who is likely to sprout off controversial views and opinions this time!

Plan something unexpected

Everyone expects a bit of music and dancing at a party, but why not add something a little different? Maybe you could have some professional mixologists showing people how to make their own cocktails, or a photo booth or selfie mirror for people to take silly photos?

Consider your catering

Food and drink are a central part of any party, so it is important to get it right. Of course, you could opt for the standard cold buffet option, which is cost-effective and simple. However, you could also mix it up a little – can guests make their own pizzas? Could you hire a mobile fish and chip truck to come to the party or an ice cream van for afters? Think outside the box a little – just make sure there is plenty of it to soak up all the alcohol!

When it comes to drinks, it is always better to have too much than not enough. Talk to your local drinks warehouse and see if you can get a good deal on wine and beers. If you are asking your guest to bring their own drinks, make sure there is plenty of ice, mixers and cups, and glasses, as well as the essential corkscrews and bottle openers.

Games

Games can be an excellent way to get people talking and relaxed. They don’t have to be childish, and in some ways, the old standbys like charades and trivia quizzes are the best. These types of games are classic and never go out of style because they are fun, and you can easily update them to be more modern, raunchy, or whatever you want, depending on your audience and what you want to do.

Board games can be time-consuming, and you don’t want anything too competitive, as this could pit people against each other. Teams games, on the other hand, are beneficial because they foster a sense of solidarity, which always helps any party go off with a bang.
