As Covid-19 restrictions start to lift in many countries around the world (thanks in no doubt to extremely successful vaccination programs), it’s true that businesses are preparing for a summer of heavy business enterprise. This means that trying to figure out how to move forward and develop our approach, no matter what firm we run, should always take into account the upcoming heavy load as people try to make up for a lost year.

It’s also true, however, that some industries will be affected more heavily than others. For instance, the hospitality and accommodation industries are sure to see a massive boost, as people once again dive into tourism and try to make the most of a free summer. Hotels and other businesses are already under heavy load during tourism-busy periods, so it’s no surprise that the first summer back after Covid-19 lockdowns is sure to be truly impactful.

How should we prepare for this? Well, in this guide, we hope to explore a few fundamental tips that can help you get through the load you’re (hopefully) about to face. Without further ado, let’s go:

Prepare Your Shared Utilities

It’s good to prepare your shared utilities that are sure to come under load, well in advance. This may mean making sure the beach houses or exterior environment are deeply cleaned and power washed, purchasing new slater pumps for your commercial pool, or ensuring that rentable items, like summer deck chairs or loungers, are kept under proper lock and key.

Here you may find other arrangements, such as building a small hut for a trash bin area, or ensuring that your exterior gift shop is properly marked out to prevent overcrowding. Little improvements surely make a profound difference.

Use Correct Covid-Precautions

Of course, even if we’re enjoying a restriction-free summer, it’s true that the necessary need to limit the spread of Covid is important. This is why marking out queue lines and spaces in your cafeteria/dining area, ensuring that your housekeepers are given the correct PPE equipment, and making sure that free antibacterial hand gels are placed at convenient points in your halls and foyers can make a tremendous difference, as it helps to keep everyone safe. Small rules, such as making sure only two or three are allowed in an elevator at a time, can also be of big benefit.

Overstaff If Appropriate

Overstaffing your business, or at least be prepared for that if necessary, can help you make sure you have enough people on hand for the first waves of the return. You can of course tailor this back down if you find that the added capacity isn’t worth it, but it’s better to be caught safe than sorry. Getting in touch with a few temp agencies or outsourcing firms can also help you in a pinch, allowing you to retain the same quality service your clients expect.

With this advice, we hope businesses can truly make the most of a blossoming summer.
