Easy Ways to Improve the Look of Your Bedroom This Spring

23rd March 2022

Having a bedroom you enjoy spending time in and relaxing in is integral to one’s mental and physical wellbeing. As we enter the spring months, you may start to become sick and tired of sitting in a room suited for the winter. Here’s how you can freshen it up in preparation for those longer days and warmer temperatures.

Repaint your walls with a new colour

Did you know that you can use colour to create the illusion of a larger room? Choosing lighter colours will usually make your room appear more spacious – especially if you paint the ceiling and skirting boards a shade lighter than your wall colour.

However, if you’re looking for a pop of colour, a feature wall can make a huge impression! Think contrasting a bright orange with predominantly white walls. However, you may choose to paint one wall a shade darker than the rest of the walls – this will draw attention to a single point and make the room seem longer.

Get a new bedside table and wardrobe

When trying to improve the look of your room, investing in attractive and good quality storage is an excellent move.

You can make your bedroom appear roomier by packing away any clutter or clothes you don’t want on show. Not only this, but by investing in a new wardrobe or bedside table, you can match the colour of your room and create the desired aesthetic.

A well-designed storage unit can become the focal point of your room.

Don’t keep your workspace in your bedroom

When working from home, it’s particularly easy to roll out of bed and immediately find yourself at your desk. Even though this is an easy option, doubling up your bedroom as a place for work and rest can trigger sleeping problems by making you associate your bedroom with wakefulness rather than rest.

Conversely, you may also see a decrease in your productivity due to associating your bedroom with sleep.

Having a designated workspace that isn’t your bedroom will also prevent your room from becoming over-cluttered with work-related equipment.

Go for blinds not curtains

In the spring and summer months, opting for blinds over curtains are an excellent way to control how much light enters your room.

This means that on a sunny morning, you can fully open your blinds to get that hit of vitamin D. However when you are trying to sleep and light keeps creeping in, you can pull your blinds all the way down to get some well-deserved shut-eye.

By following these simple tips, you can create your own little sanctuary ready for the new season!
