Busy Mums – Give Your Well-being a Boost
Being a mum is an incredibly busy job, and as rewarding as it is, it’s so easy to get lost in the chaos of daily life. Between taking care of the kids, managing household chores and maybe even holding down a side hustle or job outside of the home, we often find ourselves at the bottom of the priority list. But it’s crucial for us to remember that self care is not selfish; it’s essential for our well-being and ability to handle the demands of motherhood. Here’s how you can go about it.

Carve out Time For You
One of the easiest ways for us as busy mums to practise self care is by establishing a daily routine that includes activities that brings us joy and relaxation. This can be as simple as enjoying a cup of tea in the morning, taking a few minutes for deep breathing exercises during naptime or winding down with a good book before bed. Prioritising these moments as sacred time for ourselves can make a world of difference in our overall wellbeing.
Ask for Help
Chances are you often feel like you have to do it all, but it’s important to remember that it’s okay to ask for help. It could be the support of a partner, family members or trusted friends, reaching out for assistance can lighten the load and create more opportunities for self care. If you have someone you can ask to babysit for a few hours so you can catch up on sleep, or for an evening so you and your partner can go on a date night then go for it! It could also give grandparents, aunties and uncles a chance to bond with baby.
Live Healthily
Eating well and quitting smoking are important parts of taking care of yourself as a busy mum. Good food keeps you strong and healthy, giving you the energy you need to keep up with your kids. Quitting smoking helps you stay healthy and avoid problems like lung issues and heart disease. If quitting outright is too difficult, look into vapes like Just Juice Oxbar where you can reduce your intake slowly. By looking after your health, you can feel better and be there for your family.
Nurture Social Connections
Spending time with friends and fellow mums can provide much needed support. Joining parenting groups, participating in online communities or simply scheduling regular playdates with other mums and their kids can help us as busy mums feel less isolated and more connected. Sharing experiences, seeking advice and offering support to one another can make the journey of motherhood feel less daunting and more enjoyable.
Set Healthy Boundaries
Learning to say no to activities or commitments that don’t work with your priorities is essential for busy mums. So much is expected of us, from outings with friends to volunteering with kids schools and so much more, you simply cant be available for everything.Setting boundaries to protect your time and energy for things that truly matter can help you avoid burnout.
