Building Fitness into Your Day-to-Day: 3 Things to Try
A bit of exercise here and there is very good for you, as it maintains the strength and flexibility in your muscles. When you feel stronger, you feel healthier! That’s why it’s not just your mind that should stay active – your body needs a little bit of long-term attention as well.
However, building fitness into your routine takes time and effort, and it’s not something we’ve all got the energy for. For the modern woman with a job and a family, it’s essential to make this easier! Here are three things to try if you want to build more fitness activities into your day-to-day life.

Park the Car Further Away
Whenever you head out to the shops, or to pick up the kids from school, or even just to meet a friend, why not park the car a little further away than you’re used to? This can fit more walking time into your day and could increase your steps by at least another 100 per day.
You can apply this principle with all kinds of transport. If you use public transport like the bus, get off at an earlier stop, or walk instead of drive if it’s only going to take ten minutes to get there.
If you’re sick of sitting down all the time and feel like you need to go for the longest hike in the world, this is a good way to tamp down on the craving!
Walk in Place
Do you spend a lot of time indoors? It’s common for desk workers to rarely get time away from their computer. But if you’re spending upwards of eight hours at a desk, you’ll soon get restless and distracted! It’s not good to be sitting around all day – peppering some standing into the balance will help you burn more calories and stay healthy.
If this is a problem in your life, invest in at-home fitness equipment that’ll help you stay focused whilst still getting your steps in. A walking pad can be placed just in front of the desk and you can walk in place whilst typing up a new report. If you can combine this with a standing desk, you’ll give your legs an even better stretch!
Go for a Coffee Walk with a Friend
Meeting up with a friend? Get the coffee to go and walk and talk whilst drinking it. If you’re heading round to their house for a catch-up, go out in the garden and potter around. If you’re already sitting all day long, don’t let your leisure activity be more of the same! You could also walk to a nearby park or head down to the beach if you live in a coastal town.
Simply spending more time on your feet will build fitness into your routine. Do so on a regular basis and it won’t hurt your lower back so much whilst you’re sitting down. Stand up for longer every day for better balance.
