5 Types of Hand Care Cream That Every Man Should Own

29th November 2021

When you think of skincare, your hands are oftentimes left out of the picture. However, giving attention to your hands is just as important as the rest of your skincare routine. Your hands are doing all the brunt work throughout your day and come into contact with significantly more harsh substances than your face, so don’t neglect them!

Men, you are not exempt from needing hand care in your life, and sometimes you need it even more than women. However, you may be unsure of where to even begin, so here is a list of some essentials that you need to get started.

1. Everyday Moisturizer

A good everyday hand moisturizer is going to depend on your needs. If you suffer from dry hands often, you may want to opt for a heavier moisturizing cream. If you don’t like the feeling of a heavy moisturizer, then try something light. Give a few different options a shot until you find a go-to moisturizer that works best for you. This is ultimately going to be what you want, and what you can see yourself using on a day-to-day basis. You can also get creative by trying out different scents.

2. Intensive-Repair Cream

Next, you will absolutely need a repairing hand cream. This is good to have for when your hands aren’t in the best shape and need some healing. A repairing cream is going to be a bit heavier than an everyday cream, but that’s because it’s working to fix extra-dry hands that may be rough and have cracks and callouses. If you’re not a fan of more heavy-duty creams, try repairing creams at night right before bed so that it’s not bothering you throughout the day.

3. Travel-Size Product

A travel-sized hand-care product is another must. Your skincare routine doesn’t have to stop while travelling, and packing a smaller cream will not only be more convenient but will also encourage you to actually use it while you are away from home. You can look for a travel-size version of your everyday cream that you use for your hands, or you can use this as an opportunity to branch out and try something new without committing to a large jar or bottle.

4. Fragrance-Free Option

Fragrance-free hand-care is a good option to have for when your skin is feeling extra sensitive. Skin can sometimes have a negative reaction to products with fragrances in them, and odds are that your everyday hand moisturizer has fragrance, even if it’s muted. While it is fine to have an everyday cream that has a fragrance you love, be sure to have a fragrance-free option available in case your hands start to get irritated and need a break from your daily favourite.

5. Moisturizing Sanitiser

Yes, this exists. Though sanitisers are notorious for drying out your skin due to the main ingredient being alcohol, moisturizing sanitiser is starting to become more popular and more accessible through many of your favourite brands. Do some research and look into all your options first, but if you use sanitiser often, protect your hands with one that is gentler on your skin.

Skincare for your hands doesn’t have to be stressful. and this list of product types will help you make sure that you cover all your bases with your hands. If you struggle with hands that are constantly dry or have callouses or cracking, then sticking with a strict daily routine with these different products will help combat those issues and heal your hands.  On the other hand, if your skin is doing just fine, then having a light skincare routine for your hands will keep them looking fresh and slow down the effects of ageing on them over time.
