5 Things I'm Feeling Grateful for This Easter

Hi there! How are things for you? I hope you are doing okay.

It’s a weird time, isn’t it? Ava and I have actually enjoyed this last week so much more than the others since she’s been off school — the weather has been so lovely and it has really made such a difference and allowed us to spend so much more time outside. It has made us a lot more relaxed and happier, and now we’re looking forward to a few proper days off and enjoying our Easter at home with lots of chocolate!

Even though it’s a horrible time there are lots of things I am feeling thankful for and I know we are so, so lucky in the grand scheme of things, so I wanted to share some of the things I’m feeling grateful for this Easter.

5 Things I’m Feeling Grateful for This Easter

Having a garden

I’ve been feeling very, very grateful this week that we have a garden. The weather has changed as April has started and it’s been so lovely and made such a difference to everything. The bright blue skies are wonderful and really make me feel better about everything.

I’m sure that not having a garden when the weather is lovely and we’re in lockdown is really hard and frustrating, and so I am very grateful that we are lucky enough to have one, even if it is a pretty scruffy and quite small one. It’s actually making me properly do some gardening for the first time ever, which is also a good thing for my arms if my aching muscles are anything to go by.

Fresh air and sunshine

Along the same lines, I am so, so grateful right now for being able to step outside and take deep breaths of fresh air and feel the beautiful sunshine on my face. When life is feeling more difficult than usual it can feel so good to just get outside for a bit to get some fresh air and appreciate this incredible world, especially if the sun is shining. Sometimes — and particularly at the moment — just taking a few deep breaths of fresh air can really help make me feel much calmer, especially if I manage to get a few minutes out there by myself!

Chocolate

It really feels like Easter has come at such a good time this year. I’m sure we all need this little few days break with the bank holidays (if we are lucky enough to not have to go out to work right now) to just stop worrying about trying to homeschool the kids, fit in work as well as cooking and doing housework and all the usual things we have to do. I’m looking forward to lots of lovely Easter Eggs, doing an Easter hunt with Ava around the house and garden, and playing lots of games and just enjoying some time relaxing with each other.

Ava has been counting down to Easter Sunday for weeks and she loves searching for her eggs and then being allowed to eat (almost) as much as she likes for that one time a year! I’m looking forward to lots of chocolate too!

Audiobooks

I love listening to audiobooks and especially at the moment. It’s not like I have more time right now, but I do love to spend a few minutes listening to a book whilst I wash up or have ten minutes to lie in the sun and switch off. I am quite fussy about narrators, but I have found so many books I love and I have a massive list to get through too.

Our health

This is a scary time, and I am so grateful that we all have our health. My daughter is incredible, and I know how lucky we are that she has her health and that the rest of our family are well too. I am massively appreciating that right now.

What are you feeling particularly grateful for right now?
